WHO WE ARE

Committed to Caring

John and Delia Cole started out in 1993 volunteering their spare time to support individuals with learning disabilities.

At the time, John was working as a coal miner while Delia was a district nurse. Their voluntary work, and that of others, was uncommon at a time when public perception and acceptance of disability was considerably different from what it is today.

They were encouraged to join the Adult Placement Scheme (what is Shared Lives today) and they shared their home full time with an adult requiring their support. In time regulation changed and they were required to register as a Care Home by which time there was another individual living with them and so the care provider JT & D Cole (trading as Eldron Care) was born.

Due to the support offered and the success with individuals who found it difficult to settle elsewhere, Eldron Care gradually evolved with small groups of individuals living together in a residential and community setting however, over time, we have scaled back to focus on one individual location, Beverley Cole is the Registered Manager of 11&12 Third Row.

Residential Care, by its very nature, is a structure that inherently poses challenges to promoting independence and individual care. Groups of individuals living together, taking turns or sharing amenities, following the same routine or following someone else's rules; while Residential Care undoubtedly provides a high level of safety and security for individuals, it can come with an impact on their independence & individuality.

At 11&12 Third Row, it is our aim, to ensure that service users do not live in 'a' home but live in 'their' home. Supported to be as individual and as independent as possible. A homely environment shared by only a small number of residents and supported by a small close-knit team of staff.
